Before the cards are dealt, each player places a so-called small bet. • ‘High-Card’ – If none of the players has made any combinations from the list, the winner is the one with the highest valued card.
• ‘Pair’ – Two cards of equal value, such as 5-5-2-1.

• ‘Three of a Kind‘ – three of a kind.
  
• ‘Stairs’ or Straight‘ – A combination of two consecutive numbers, such as 6-7-8-9-10. An ace is counted as one.
  
• ‘Flush‘ – In a hand, all five cards are of the same suit, such as 2-5-6-8-J.
  
• ‘Full House‘ – a combination of three of a kind and one pair.
  
• ‘Carre‘ or ‘Four of a Kind’ is a combination of four identical cards.
  
• ‘Straight Flush‘ – Five consecutive cards of the same suit, a combination of ‘Stairs’ and ‘Flush’.
  
• ‘Royal Flush‘ – This is a combination of ‘Straight Flush’ made up of cards with the highest possible value.
